July iJug - MySQL 101

The next meeting will be Tuesday July 29th at 6pm. Please see here for location details. We are trying out Tuesday as a meeting night for the first time. Please spread the word those who might be interested.

Our speaker will be Ralph Szulerowski from MySQL and his topic will be “MySQL 101 – what you need to know about the world’s most popular open source database”.

There is no cost for the meeting, but please RSVP to Andrew Zahra by Friday 25th of July for catering purposes as Pizza will be provided.

This month we will be giving away the book “The Art of Agile Development” as well as an IntelliJ Idea personal licence and other goodies too!

Read on for some background on Ralph.

Ralph is a graduate of the University of Wollongong – Bachelor of Mathematics and has been working in the computer software business for over 25 years, initially as a computer programmer and database administrator. Ralph made the switch to the “vendor side” of software early in his career and worked at software companies such as Software AG (ADABAS), Oracle, Business Objects, BEA Systems (WebLogic), IONA Technologies and MySQL. Ralph currently has responsibility for business development of MySQL within Australia and New Zealand.
